Progress

07:21

So here's some updates on Friday's progress (didn't get the chance to write it up that day though). I had mostly decided to leave her general anatomy as it was; this wasn't actually required for my character since she'd be almost entirely covered by her dress, but I wanted the practice.

I'm quite pleased with the hands at the moment considering this is a first attempt. I tried to reference old people's hands but tone down the wrinkles and paper-thin looking skin; one thing I noticed when looking at African tribe women is that they aged remarkably well compared to white people. For some reason their skin doesn't become as 'flaky' looking as people with whiter skin so I wanted to make sure I reflected that in my own character.

I also decided to turn off symmetry when it came to doing her face. I'd got down the basics using symmetry but no face is perfectly symmetrical so I wanted to do the wrinkles at least without it. Although its not super noticeable I'm hoping it makes her face just that little bit more realistic.

Now that I've got the face and hands to a standard I'm happy with I'm going to move on to her clothes. I'm going to attempt to learn Marvelous designer which is a fashion program recommended to me by lots of people. If I have the time before I bake her I'll probably add in some more wrinkles and pores on her face but for now I want to make sure I have plenty of time to learn and use the new software!
